Basically had the EML light pop up on the dash.

Did a VAGcom error check and it came back with 17571 - Fuel Temp Sensor (G81)
Open or Short to Plus. I cleared the code but it came back again this morning, this was after a 40 minute drive to work with 10 mins at 70mph on the motorway.

I think I've found the sensor but can't see anyway of unclipping it. How does it disconnect?

On the Mk4 Ibiza TDI, it's in the fuel line; standing at the front of the car and looking at the engine with the cover off, it's towards the right-hand end (ie passenger side) of the head, on the front. Has a small plastic wiring connector going to it.

I think I've loacted it, just it just pull off or does it need unclipping? It looked like there was a clip there but I couldn't see how to get it off.

Make sure the wires are not broken first mate.

Open circuit fault tends to mean a broken wire but its not uncommon for the sensor to just give up.

Everything seemed ok when I was looking at the wiring. Will clear it again today and get the proper reading from VCDS, as I can't recall if it was an inconsistent fault or intermittent fault.
