How to remove the speaker covers on a Leon?

I'v done a search but came up with no real answers.
How do i remove the covers for my speakers? Is there a special knack to pop them off?

You mean the door cards? The speaker grill is integrated on the MK1 Leon.
I need to pop my passenger door one off soon as the speaker is rattling. Not sure if it's riveted on to screwed onto the door?. Somehting needs tightening.

You can buy special tools for removing door cards which is fairly cheap from a local motorfactors and IMO worth spending £5-£10 and not damaging the door cards.

Didnt realise you had to take the whole door card off

That's a bit unneccessary IMO. There really is no need and no real chance to damage the door cards when removing them.

The grab handle comes off easily enough, revealing the two screws beneath.
The screws around the edge are already exposed, so no worries there.
The plastics on the front of the door card pull off easily.

Then it's just a case of gently pulling out the poppers holding the rest in place, which wont be made any safer with a £10 tool as it's the force that could do the damage, not the way in which that force is applied.

Once off you just need to support it and undo the electrical connections underneath.

It's about 5 minutes work, if that, with no real chance to do any damage.

Rob or anyone are the speakers held on by rivets or screwed in ?. Is it likely to have come loose?
Mine is rattling with base and seems to be vibrating in the passenger door when the volume is up.

Cheers I'm going to be doing the front speakers first and i'm a little worried about breaking the controls for the mirrors ect Think i might get some one else to do it rather than break anything.

Did this when I changed my interior last weekend, dont be scared have a pull!!

prize off the handle first, which will reveal 2/3 bolts, undo bolts and the ones on the bottom of the card, then pull away!!

makes a horrible sound, but nothing to worry about.

there is plenty of slack on the cables to unplug all the wires

Taking the door card off is very easy. Have a look at the door leak thread for detailed instructions.

I was scared of it, but in the end it was very, very easy.
