How to break-in a Cupra engine?

Picked it up yesterday,no mercy at all:as soon as it's warm trash time:D

I have done over 50 miles already,it's really great all-around hot hatch...

Get it up to temp in a normal fashion then give it the beans. This is how I treat every new car I ever get (one every 3 years) and after 100k mile or more none of them use any oil at all.

They are tight when you first get them! I have done 1800miles now and its SO much faster!

There is more to come:drool:

BTW i am seeing 24 mpg even with normal driving,is that normal?And some smell(burn?) in the cockpit after hard runs...

yeah for the first couple of days.

I'm get 30-35mpg on a normal run and 42-45 on a 60mph motorway run. Hoping with a few more miles I can get 40mpg at 70mph.

Only run her on 99ron vpower as well.

Lots of good advice people !

I have semi-nailed her during her first 1000miles which is the end of the break-in period according to the manual. I didn't want to nail her from the start as I believe break-in period includes other components such as brakes, transmission and even diff. It isn't only the engine.. So with occasional "pedal to the metal" attempts and nicely soft driving for the rest, my break-in is complete.

I was wondering if an oil and oil filter change would be recommended ? I assume some metal fractures could have find its way to the oil pan after the initial break-in, wouldn't they ?

What have you guys done ? oil change after break-in ?

thats what i'll be doing. 500km of light driving, 500km of medium thrash, 500km of carnage, oil change - drive it like i stole it from then on.

i would expect some filings/rings in the pan (well i did on my bike anyway) so it cant hurt. what oil would people recommend?

Seems like an oil change is in order then, what is the OEM oil in these cars ?
 
as everyone else has said give the engine a hard time straight away when its warm of course,when i use to be in the trade for skoda and kia we use to pdi the cars and give them loads of grief so the pads and tyres would be warn in before you receive the car if the mechanic has road tested it.

everyone in the workshop including the boss use to say if the kias dont come back smelling really strong like burning then they hadnt been road tested properly.
chances are evryones car has been ragged on pdi road test and you wont even know it.
