how to assign a com port with windows 95

been getting bit of help setting my vag com up but no one knows how to do it with windows 95 as its very old lol and hepl would be great!

stoney showed me how to do it on xp but the last bit in device manager didnt give me a choice of com ports just the settings can find out how to assign vag com to one!

how about deleting the com ports from device manager and redetect them, it should make it as port1 vagcom is defaulted to com port 1 also iirc.

Alternatively, change the IRQ and memory range to the appropriate one to the com port you want to use, that's assuming there's one already there.

Also you need to make sure it's using the same IRQ as something that's already in use, i.e. a modem, mouse or whatever.

its got nothing on the computer really its so basic its unreal would you be able to do a little guid for me as ive not used 95 for ages if you dont mind that is

if you open device manager in control panel gaz, you can right click on the com port and click properties
it should open a page like this

vagcom prefers slower rates so this page might help (written for 2000/xp but same basics apply)

id recommend deleting the port first from device manager, reboot and let 95 redetect it, open vagcom and go into options (bottom right button) and select the applicable comport.

i get them pages up but no selection of com ports at the bottom can see the laptop stopping me from getting this going

yea getting fed up with this laptop was hoping it would work but looks very unlikly was only sitting in a draw at home lol thanx for your help much apreciated!
