how much will insurance offer me?

Well sadly my car has been written off after my crash just before xmas im now just waiting for the insurance to give me an offer on the car, anybody got any ideas off roughly what the offer will be?? its a 51 plate done 76k miles and was in good condition for its age

Not sure mate, go onto www.parkers.co.uk (I was feeling nice: http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/used-prices/Valuation.aspx?deriv=19582&plate=67, doesn't look to promising), that will be the best valuation you have a leg to stand on. Then you could buy it back off them if you can if you had alot of mods and sell them on.

The insurance are wanks they will try and offer you hardly anything. Nothing like what you could of sold the car for.

thats why you need to get your car independantly valued if it is worth alot to you, then you ring up the insirance and tell them!

Were all your mods declared?
If so then I would expect an offer of around the lower end of the worst book price they can find.
But there has been known to be negotiation, or a low offer may make for a very reasonable buy-back price?

my mate bought his vectra back for 300 quid, and they offered him 2700 pounds aswell!! it was worth 4 grand, so maybe buy back and see if they'll pay out aswell, then you can break your car up and put it towards a new one

i know loads of people who do that, its a great idea! even on a standard one you could sell, hoses, turbo, wheels and mods you may of done, interior, cat, blah blah blah

then scrap the bugger!

hi m8 i had this problem when i wrote my ibiza off it was black 51 plate 63k on it was in good condition and was insured with zurick insurance i got payed out 4100 for it then took my excess 300 and bought it back for around 800(as i work in a accident repair thought i could fix it myself) so had around 3grand 2 play with, decided against repairin it as i didnt want 2 have the risc of it not drivin straight i.e crabbin down the road or tryin 2 sell a cat c write off for penuts so i bought another ibiza cupra in red for 3grand as i jus wanted a straight car so i could put all my mods on an that i could sell with no problems so all i lost was 5 years no claims an i have a spare car( i have spare engine, gear-box, turbo, wheels, seats an so on) 2 but get a few pics of other cars of the same age/milage an try as much as u can

thanks for the replies guys, dosent look to good for me then got £750 excess to come of what they offer me aswell, its admiral i'm with and they said they dont allow you to buy the car back, but if they aint gona pay out a decent amount for the car i will be demanding to have it back

Thats a lie, my car was written off and they let me buy it back. Just haggle with them, get as much info on similar value cars as yours and then thay will have to offer you more.

yeah will be valued on glass's more than likely.. I dont think they can stop you having it back unless its cat A/B depending on the reason.

If its modified buy it back and strip the good stuff. Make a little extra change. Offer will not be the best but just be persistant. Say yeah the book might say that price but show me where in autotrader etc.. you can get a value like that?

Admirral are alright on values to be honest. I work in insurance and got them to value my saxo when i wrote off few years back. They did it on glasses at 3000 and i got offered 3400. Shame police prosecuted and i didnt get anything =[

i had this problem was arguin with them on the phone for hours i work in accident repair garage an i was askin every1 i know in the trade whats the score with this situation an they said as long its a cat c or cat d u can buy the car back as its 2 expensive for them 2 repair the car so they write it off as its cheaper for them jus out of curiosity how much damage is there 2 the car?

i work in Gap insurance and we inform the customer to call us before they except as they try there luck all the time.....

it cant be nice loosing your car let alone something you have put a lot of blood sweat and tears into.

its something i can do every so often (so its not suspicious).

Also hpi is a good feature to have done when buying a new car as funnily enough a work college was looking at a focus st today and was going for 9k, 2-3k under price on ebay

After the hpi we found out why.....it had a stolen and recovered marker on it.
