Just noticed a post on the MK1 Forum about how many cars are left on the road and thought I check out my motor.

But when i check on HOWMANYLEFT.CO.UK it shows two models of the 280

SEAT LEON CUPRA 280 TSI

and

SEAT LEON CUPRA 280 TSI S-A

anybody know what the difference is between the two different models (if there is) or a more reliable web site for numbers

I think ‘280 TSI‘ relates to cars with manual transmission and ‘280 TSI S-A‘ is cars with DSG transmission, so S-A probably means semi-automatic. My car (Polo GTI+ 6 speed DSG) has the ‘S-A’ designation shown on the V5 registration document.

The data should be reliable as it’s sourced from Department of Transport data and is (usually) updated on a quarterly basis. Clicking on the a car’s model designation in the displayed results on the howmanyleft.co.uk website gives a lower level breakdown of the data for that model by calendar quarter, split between licenced and SORN vehicles. This is the lower level data for the Leon Cupra 280 DSG;

Thank you that makes perfect sense

So just to get my head round this 2016 the 290 came out and the total number of 280's was 938 + 5 but in 2024 its 845 + 22 so 76 cars are no longer registered so that's just over 8% death rate.
