lol so not the boc then? i just wanted to ask, coz on paper the vxr has a faster 0-60 and the bhp is very slightly more, however i underdtand that they can be quite poor on handling around corners and have seen a few astras in particular with the back bumpers smashed up where they have lost it!"

Smashed it on the road. And 1/4 mile times, i saw it do mid to high 14s to low 15s. Think the standard cupra/boc does low to mid 14s. Revo'd though under 14s

Also I dont believe the 0-60 time that it states for the boc/cupra. It says 7.2 for 180bhp. And although I havnt tested a standard cupra tsi, the 215revo does a 5.1 recorded at a track. Cant see how it could make that much difference. I think its probably down to vw not wanting to quote figures close to that of a gti so theyr being conservative. They did it in the past with the 2.0 16v cupra which was pretty much the same performance as wv's VR6, but they didnt want it to affect sales

Very nice car to drive but for me the interior is quite poor (apart from seats) which I know gets said a lot about our Cupras on the VXR forums which I don't understand.

Out of choice I think it would be the Cupra everytime regardless of which is quicker.

I am 52 now and I must say the vxr, looks nice drives very well and all round a very good car.
On the other hand I would feel a right nob getting out of one at my age, but with the cupra it dont stand out as much to the man in the street as being a hot hatch, so no one would that much notice.
If I had a choice I would go for the Seat

I know not many people care about residulas when buying sports hatches/cars etc but I'd go for the Cupra because it will stand the test of time a little better than the VXR price wise.

For myself only being 20, i do regret not going for the corsa a little bit, a little bit more sporty than the cupra, i know the DSG box is fast but there is nothing like thrashing round the countyside in a manual.

thanks for the replies, its helpful. i like them both, but must say i am more inclined to go with the boc coz 1stly its alot better on fuel, secondly i like seats 3rdly the insurance is miles cheaper coz they dont seem to like insuring vxr's. also they are more expensive, and when i was speaking to the dealer the other day he said they where like gold dust second hand and he couldnt even find one nationally second hand.lol.so your forced into paying full price with no discounts, for a car thats very similar in spec, and rumored to not corner very well.lol.so boc it is all the way.lol

The VXR handles like a bag of crap. My friend had a 250 bhp Corsa VXR Arctic and it was awesome in a straight line and a blast up the motorway but when it came to handling it was almost scary! Ive heard many people say the same, shame becuase i think the are beautiful cars.

im also guessing that with the boc theres gotta be good potential for tuning as it has a turbo and a super charger?? the only thing im still not sureabout is the trade in of a manual can imagine it will be great for 1st few month but will it wear off and wan to go back to a manual??
