How can I check that service work has been done?

If you dont want them to clean your car, tell them not to! For me, it was an unexpected bonus and it was gleaming! Its mucky again now though  I actually bought my previous car from the same garage, and the day me and my mate went to pick it up we couldnt believe how bright the colour was. They seem to do a real good job those valleters!

Yes this "car cleaning" is a bit of a bore, I get this at every MOT and its a nuisance if you have a sunroof - both cars have sunroofs and both cars now have a raised bit at the joint in the seal due to the cheap and cheery way the auto washer rolls over the roof - plus I get some nice extra fine scratches in the paintwork - and I need pliers to remove the bits of nylon bushes left jammed in places - it happens even if I wash the car the day before the MOT. The dealer just can't leave it out as its part of their service (and gives someone some thing to do!).

id definatly ask them not to put my car through an auto wash especially as mine is black,i put my old car through an autowash it was black i ended up with loads of fine scratches took me hours to polish them out and i still wasnt satisfied never again.

Ive seen what they do at that place in durham before, they put it in the car park surrounded by hot sprinklers and then wash it properly. Good idea really but theres alot of wasted water, and I bet their heating bill is through the roof! Although I cant say for fact that this is what they did with mine this time, as I was driving their lovely Hyundai courtesy car at the time!
