horrid noise on acceleration

just filled up with petrol tonight left the garage and put my foot down in second and there was a rattle rather like a blowwing exhaust but mixed with a tinny sound. while driving home noticed it only did it in second at between 2500 and about 4000 rpm. i think it might be the re circ valve as this is when the turbo puts out most boost isnt it? im also running revo so the valve may not be up to it and has eventually gone. othere gears it makes the noise but at different rpms. can anybody comfirm that it is the recirc valve leaking air back to the intake and making this noise? any help much apriciated!

could be the valve as you mentioned, could also be something as simple as a loose heatshield, have a good look along the exhaust and under the bonnet for loose plates

only seems to do it under load had a look around engine bay nothing lookied out of place but could be that. will take it in to dealers and see what they say. getting forge oo7 soon anyway as i thiught that the vale would fail some time with the extra boost

loose manifold bolts has struck again by the sounds of it, is it even louder when cold??

this does seem to be a common problem on the mk4 1.8T engined ibizas

well it seems to be louder when it gets going and only when the turbo is boosting ie foot to the floor which might be manifold bolts ill have to lok tonight at them

Right this is doing my head in had a forge dvoo7 fitted today at tsl thought this would work it hasn't its louder and a lot louder. the best way to describe it is the sound of a fan belt squeeking when throttle is a quarter down or more it even makes a sharp chirp when reving it freely. ive read on hear about wastegate chatter hose leaks but the performance is not affected at all i pulled on to the dual carride way and wheel spun in first then second and then in third it went to the red line and kept spinningdoing 80mph i think my car has gone mad? please help me before i go mad!!!!!!

spinning at 80, you sure, where you live alaska or something.

could be anything i think its a boost related noise cos since the forge one was fitted its louder probably cos its hold boost better at the vavle. i think it could be the overboost valve leaking the manifold bolts but this sound is very high pitched or the cat is fu**ed at only 7500 miles.

ant you maybe right started car up and sounded like there was no exhaust on the car if your right credit to you as you mentioned it when it sounded like a faulty dump valve its in on wed did you have this problem?

well i have my car back problem was manifold bolts coming lose well done ant! only taken abot 3 weeks to get it done from when i first hear the noise!! but feels good
