My horn stopped working the other week, after stopping, starting again before finally dying!!

Been under the car, pulled it out and tested with a battery and worked fine. Checked the fuse and no problem with that, so leads me to believe that it`s the switches in the wheel (both sides). Anyone know how easy it is to replace the switches, and approx cost?

Alternatively, there is the aftermarket steering wheel approach, but would I lose the airbag?

Comments and opinions welcome........

If you go after market you will loose the airbag I would expect....

Could it not be the wiring rather than the switches?

TallFella I am surprised at you....... very restrained... :D

Could you enlighten me as to exactly where the sounder is? Been told it's that which is faulty on mine, and I can't believe it's an £80 job (parts + labour) to unscrew the old one and fit a new one...

With the horn disconnected can you get someone to push the horn buttons whilst testing for 12V down at the horn connector to check the relay/wiring is OK ? Unlikely that both switches have gone. Maybe that horn's on its last legs so works sometimes and not others. As you've probably read on here, its susceptible to water ingress. Get a £10 Ring one from Halfords if it needs replacing
