Horn issues.

My horn has stopped working on my 51 Leon. I’ve managed to get an old horn off from between the front bumper and the passenger front wheel. I’ve ordered a new official SEAT one which arrives tomorrow.

I've searched on here already, but can't find any specific advice that helps with my query...

I now understand there are two horns – a high and low tone? The one I have removed (and ordered) is a low tone horn. Will this likely fix the problem or do I need to order and replace both. I could only see one horn and hence that’s why I ordered just the one and have checked and there's no sign of the mysterious high tone horn which I guess would be next to the low tone one for wiring purposes. My colleague tells me the other horn might be for an alarm (my car doesn’t have an alarm) and not to worry but is this the case?

As far as i'm aware there is only the one horn fitted, on the preface lift leon, my 2002 cupra only had the one, and it was pathetic, so i changed it for 2 Fiamm electric horns, which are "VERY LOUD" plugged straight into the original wiring.

I don't know if there is a seperate horn for the alarm, but i suspect not, since i've had the alarm beeps activated via vag-com it makes a small beep, beep on arming and a single beep on disarming.

Fitting just the one new horn you will still only have a low tone horn , so you'll need to get a hi tone if you want it too be any louder.

Excellent. Not bothered about the horn being any louder, for now, as I just need one that works.

Did buy a horn from Halfords but the wiring didn't match up exactly and it seemed like a right faff to sort out for something so unimportant. SEAT wanted £43 for a horn but after shopping around managed to find an official one for £23 in delivery.

Only one horn. The Halfords horn is very simple to wire in.

The alarm has its own separate horn.

Ok - thanks, think I've got enough knowhow to sort this over the weekend.

My only question is that the replacement part I ordered (2nd hand - off a Toledo) has two horns. I can dismantle them to just use the one very easily and have one spare although which is best to use: the high tone or the low tone? The one previously was a low tone but would the high tone sound too gay on its own?
