Horn issue

Evening all. My horn has completely stopped working overnight. I’ve checked the fuse in the engine bay box and that’s fine. I could understand if just one had stopped as it’s a twin horn setup, one each side of the bumper, but both together all of a sudden? Is it an easy job to access the horns so I can test on a direct 12v? Not sure how much play there is if removing the fog lamp or if it’s a bumper off job. Thanks in advance.

You've tested the fuse and the relay?

I'd be surprised if it's the horns themselves that have both blown simultaneously.

Fuse is all good. Swapped for another even though it shows no signs of damage but nothing. Relay is not clicking so I’ve ordered another one that comes tomorrow. Fingers crossed it’s that as it’s an easy swap compared to the horns 🤣.

So I’ve replaced the relay with a brand new one and still nothing. Not even clicking when I press the horn/steering wheel. Would that suggest the clock spring or whatever it’s called behind the wheel? Surely if the horn was at fault the relay would still click?

could be the connector on the steering wheel, the clock spring, or a break anywhere between the horns and the button

Think I’ll go to an auto electrician instead then. Rather pay to find out the cause than keep throwing money at it trying to find a solution. Appreciate the reply.

If the airbag is easy to remove then might be worth having a look yourself. Usually just a ground connection that's made when you press the airbag agaist the wheel. Not sure about the setup on the mk2 , but most horns work that way.
