hissing noise

Sat at the traffic lights today when i heard a hissing noise and then steam or smoke seemed to come out from underneath the car. Does anybody know what this could be or had the same problem. Car had not been thrashed and had only travelled 1 mile. The air con was on, just wondered whether it was that? Happened again about 10 min later when parked up and left the car running again to see if i could see anything, noticed that there was white ish dust on the rear window. Thanks, just thought i would ask here first

checked the radiator for holes?

No not yet can't seem to see any water leaks any where and no wet patches on the floor, thought i would start here first

Maybe a leak on the aircon unit?

i suppose only way to see is leave it running and look under the car and hope it does it again, (or not! don't want a big bill if you see what i mean).

might be aircon water outlet dripping onto the exhaust - don't know just guessing.

think it might be air con, had it on today but making the engine fan come on really early and also making a funny noise inside the car through the vents. just wondered if it worth taking it to the dealers or getting an air con firm out to it
