Just had mines remapped recently! The car now boosst up up over 1.2 on the gauge (may be morre).
Is ok to run on normal petrol instead of high octance such bp ultimate, v-power.
I know it burns quicker when you foot and it dosnt giv better mpg than normal!

Any suggestions on the benifits?

higher octane fuels will in theory let you run more boost and/or timing advance before detonation occurs (bad thing) . any 1.8T in my opinion should be run on super anyhow (97RON) any less grade of fuel will mean your ecu will retard the map and you wont get the best from your vehicle , if you want to spend that little extra on v power , optimax etc , thats up to you , just dont spend any less than super

im saying that 97 will get a good standard of power from your engine , itll run on cheaper fuels , but is it worth spending the money on a remap to run on pish ,

my car will run on used chip fat but i dont do it , itll go better with ultimate instead

see where im heading ,

what does it say to run on the handbook

Depends whether your map is set to run on 95 or 97/98 octane fuel!

If its set to run on 97/98 then it is not advised to run it on 95 as when you increase the load on the engine, you will get pre ignition/uncontrolled combustion because the timing will be set too advanced this causes high temps and pressure that can damage pistons, valves etc.

using higher octane will increase mpg during normal driving, and under heavy driving the ignition of the fuel is more controllable so can be left till later which give more torque low down as well as across the rev range but leads to small increase in power!

from a single cyl 125cc 4stroke moped (mrs) up to a 540 V8 bmw in this house you wont find any family member using ANYthing less than optimax

95 is only fit for starting fires imho

IF cost worries you, bear in mind that with normal driving higher octane fuel with give better MPG than lower octane. This means the extra few pence you pay at the pump is offset by the extra MPG you're getting.

And if I were you, I'd find out from PTorque what they think of this question. If the car has been mapped for higher octane fuel, I'd definitely not run it on lower octane. I wouldn't do it on a normal, standard car to be honest, but it's even more important on a remapped car to get the fuel right.

Yeh jus sent a post to Will, will check on petrol prices.com for super unlead fuel. The prices are rising alot here. so ihave look for cheap stations!
Last time the car felt better with the fuel but that was before the remap!
give it a shot on high octance when it goes on reserve!

Just remember that to get the full benefits (better MPG, better performance) you need to give it a couple of tanks worth.

So asuming the £10 wont effect the mpg much! Its true inaway, the more you fill the more you get.
the cheapest station in my area for high octane is shell at 94p a litre

I run mine on nothing but V Power. It runs smoother and feels stronger plus I get better MPG.

As said above you need to put a couple of tank fulls in to get the maximum benefit. It will only cost about £4 extra for a tank of V Power than the normal super (at Shell) maybe a little more compared to Sainsburys . Although according to petrolprices.com Sainsburys and Shell are the same price in my area.

Fill it up!

as people have said it does depend on your map set up but if 95 ron is pish why does it state in the handbook to use anything from 95 to 98 ron.

i used 95 ron in mine for just over a year and 30,000miles and didn't have a single problem with it. i did try vpower and tesco 99 and didn't notice any gains in mpg to offset the cost. my daily drive to work used to see 38 to 42 mpg on 95 ron and the same with 99 ron. up to you but mine was always morrisons asda or tesco's as it was cheapest.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't... it says 95ROZ or 98RON. At least, that's what the filler cap says.

Ive noticed some thing odd, when i run on normal petrol, i get sh*t mileage but the car feels more aggressive.

when i run on V power, i get way better mileage but tha car some time dosnt wants to go staright awa.

is it me or could there be something wrong?

Depends on the mapping, might be worth running that question past PTorque. If I were to guess, I'd say the higher octane fuel will allow a more progressive smoother delivery of the power.
