Help - Worried about the Electrics on my Alhambra 2005

Hi,

Hope someone can help point me in the correct direction. I have a Seat Alhambra 1.9 tdi ( 2005 ) model.

The car has developed a serious of electrical faults which have presented themselves as follows. Each fault has come on a few day / weeks from the last fault :

1) Firstly the drivers side door central locking stopped working. All other doors open and close from the remote key fob except the drivers side. As a this door needs to be opened with the key.

2) Second fault, the drivers side rear passenger windows no longer opens or closes. It does not matter if I press the button at the front ( main windows control for all 4 windows ) or the button on the rear door. All other windows open ok.

3) Finally, none of the interior lights work front or back work. [the lights that come on when you open a door ect). Again goes not matter how the interior light switches are set.

Any ideas what is going on ? Are these faults related ?

Thanks

Hi
Not sure about the first fault but for the other two you will almost certainly find that the bundles of wires that go through the door post and into the door will have some broken wires.
The wires are very thin and seem to break fairly easily - this is a common fault with these cars.
You will need to trace the broken wire and repair with connectors or re soldering.

many thanks for this.
To get access to these bundles of wires, would the door need to be stripped ?

Hi Perm

U should find the break in the bundle of wires between the door and the door pillar. It seems to be where the wire flexes back and fore when the door is opened and closed. Usually awkward to repair but is possible to do.
