Help with faulty key

I have two remote key 'fobs' ; one is the original (working) and one is a freebie given to me due to poor delivery condition of my tFSI (not working).

The second key has never worked properly but I couldn't be arsed arguing with the dealer (Bromley, Kent) based on the fact I live in S. Wales!

When the car was due for its first service I asked the key to be sorted. However, my wife took the car in and was told the key was 'broken'.

I read a few threads re. keys today and thought people on here could help.

The 'faulty' key unit can open doors both remotely and with the key but when the key is put in the ignition the capitalised word "SAFE" appears in the trip area of the dash and the egine fires but stalls immediantly.

Any ideas?

Sounds like all you need is new immob chip (£7 and still needs coding). Or for it to be coded by someone with Vagcom or a dealer. Have a search on here as there is plenty of info regarding spare/flip keys.

I actually have an old VW flip key that definately had a working "glass thingy" so I've swapped the key bits over and now am looking for a local VAG-COM programmer to reprogram the glass thingy to my Seat Leon.

I have the 2-5 digit code (xx xxxxx) of my car's immobiliser and the original master.

Anyone in Monmouth / Chepstow / Abergavenny / Coleford / Cinderford with Vag-COm willing to help.

Sounds like you have what you need. Although I did have an problem having one of my fobs coded once. The immob chip was playing up so I just got a new one. The dealer coded mine as part of another warranty issue.

Ask in the Vagcom forum for help as you might get more of a response :).
