Help with Dash Trim Removal

OK, so i have the common problem of my indicators/ hazards not working on my MY02 Leon.

I've bought a new flasher/ relay unit from the dealer but i am struggling to remove the piece of trim that surrounds the cup-holder/ hazard switch. I can get the topside off but can't get them bottom side to move (the bit above the stereo) - i'm worried that too much pressure might snap something...

Anyone know how to remove this easily?

Cheers

You will have to pull the stereo out. It will cost you a fiver but get some removal keys from your local motorfactors, it makes the job so much easier!

once the stereo is out there are 2 torx screws to remove, open your ashtray and if you look at the top of it you will see a silver bracket held in with one screw. Remove that and pull the ashtray forward but be careful as the cig lighter is still attached. I think there are another 2 screws behind the ashtray and viola your fascia should pop off!! :)

Thanks for the advice. Realised that I would need to take the stereo out first, a lot of hassle but everything works again. However, the relay is v. loud!!

Next problem is how to replace the remote fuel flap motor.....

So even your new relay clicks and is quite audible then?

Was going to change mine as it's the loudest thing in the car tbh but if this is normal i wont bother.

My indicator relay went recently,(6.30 am on the M62 going to work!)instead of the hassle of getting one from a dealer(non near) went to the local VW scrappers, they looked at me daft untill i showed them it,sold me a new one for a Passat, changed the heads over, they simply 'click'off and on,and its got a nice soft 'tick tock' to it,might be an idea for an'upgrade if you find the standard ones a bit loud.
