I use Meguiars, tried many others, and this stuff is awesome.

I use the gold class shampoo, paint cleaner, stratch X, clay bars, and the NXT Next Gen wax (thats the order I remembered them). I used to have a black car, and the above worked an absolute treat to produce a deep glossy shine.

polish?

Do you want a polish or a wax?

Blacks are a whole new ball game when it comes to caring and maintaining them! Please see other posts in here about staged detailing, this will imrpove the quality of your results dramatically!

If you are knew and dont wish to spend days details, I would suggest the starting line up from Megs

The three stage, DC1, Dc2 and DC3

This is a separate cleaner, polish and then wax.

I've been using DC1 (the cleaner) and Megs NXT wax as per Iains recommendation and have to say that I'm very impressed! Seems to wwork a treat on black as it contains fillers which reduce the appearance of imperfections.

It's really reduced the severity of the swirls on mine.

I think I may be putting it on a bit heavily though as I'm getting some streaking which can be more of a mission than it should be to wipe off.

guess it's all very subjective...

But i got great results with poorboys natty's blue wax and polish. the blue versions are specifically for dark cars and found them to give great results on my black leon.

Defo better than megs carnuba wax and at least as good as p21s.

Tommy - What colour is your car? What condition is the paintwork in?

it's metalic black, and in very good condition, i happy with it but know with a real good wax it will look awesome but wanna go the best way about it? got a pic but not to sure how to post it?

i'm no expert but if theres no correction for defects in the paint I'd go for a good sealant and a decent wax over it.

Poorboys do a sealant called EX-P and a wax specifically for black cars called Nattys Blue wax. Both of these products can be used in sunlight which is helpful too.

Have a look in the care care and detailing forum. There's been loads written about caring for black cars.

good post, if you want to step uo the quality ladder from here, go to Wolfgang selant and Pinnacle Souveran Wax...

It all depends on your budget;)

Both suggestions are available from www.motorgeek.co.uk, dont forget the discount code posted somewhere :D

The Wolfgang selant that Iain recommended is awesome!! Used it for the first time this weekend on my black Leon Cupra and the results were amazing!! The metalic really stands out in the sun!

May have also helped that i clayed and Megs DC1'd it first.

Matt.

On a car with dark (black) paintwork I use poorboys polish (blue) with carnuba wax and natty's blue wax, good results.

You can try a sealent after polishing like Poorboys Sealent EX P is supposed to bring out the flakes in your paintwork, is yours a metallic? I've ordered this today so can tell you in a few days how it is.

Poorboys stuff is competitively priced and easy to use products so is a good starting point.
