with cone filer for example. it allows the turbo to spool up much quicker. this puts the dv under more strain,
the standard dv are known for failing, also what u have to remember this guy is using a standard dv on a mapped car (not good) forgive me if im wrong but im sure he needs to run a yellow spring.

on my car going from uprated panel to cone makes no difference to spooling.
Happy to be educated though... have you got before and after figures?

Dvs not holding pressure, again example of my own car. Mapped to 242bhp no issues on a green spring except that coming off the boost , took a little longer. swopping to yellow snapped the boost off quicker.
the more aggressively the dv operates (harder spring) the more pressure on your turbo (not good). Its finding balance. you dont want to slam the door (instant hard pressure change) more progressively close it allowing the pressures to equalise.

Stock dvs only fail with age. The diaphram is strong enough even on my BT set up but Its usually been on the car for years prior to mapping and then fails.

just to let you all know it held boost fine all the way to and from birmingham, but since ive been home tonight i decided to swap over to std filter then take it out again and to me it seems more responsive and aggresive with the std filter back on.. Strange

Well unfortunatley the problem still exists, but i now think it is something to do with the throttlebody, it has had a problem lately with smooth acceleration (more when first started) its as though the engine doesnt know where the throttle position is , so you apply a little pressure to the throttle (whilst driving) it then goes, then backs off on its own without you removing your foot..

hope this makes sence:blink:

Could this be my problem with shortage of power occasionally and cause the car to boost correctly (according to my guage) but hold back at times..

Cheers

Hi Guys

ive quite recently changed my air filter for a pipercross panel filter and unless its just coincidedence of some other failing part, it seems the car just is not liking it at times.

Every now and then it really holds back when you let the car boost at all ..
(but a smooth hold back if you get what i mean, like the the pressure from the turbo is being blocked or something:confused:)

The gauge will read 1.2 bar but nothing happens and there is no external leak sound either whilst its on boost,
but it does make a strange loudish pisstt when you come off the accerator

ohh and i should add it was re-mapped with the standard filter in originally, and the weather has turned fairly cold since so maybe thats it..

hope this makes some kinda sence :D

Any suggestions please would be great guys

cheers
