i have just been out in the car and it tuck ages 4 the heaters 2 heat up. a wile later it started blowing heat 4 about 2minz then it was cold again. what could cause this?? cheers
seen this before on an alhambra with a 2litre 8 valve engine fitted turned out to be that the owner hadn't had the car service for ages the antifreeze had gone off and corroded the head so bad that exhaust gases were entering the cooling system and creating massive air pockets causing the exact symptoms of what you have
that doesnt sound good. i dont no the last time it was serviced i have just got the car was goin 2 do it in the next week r so. the water level was down wen i found the air lock tuck just under 1L. what can i do to check this out?
take it to a garage that has a block tester. its a flask of liquid that sits on top of the expansion tank and detects if exhaust gases are present.
seen correde heads before on 1.6's etc etc
i have just been lookin at all the paper work i have 4 the car and it looks like that last service was done in 2004 and i cant find any paper work of antifreeze been done.
so its probably on the old G10 coolant (now G12) which probably lost all of its anti corrosive properties years ago.
you can get an exchange head fron a dealer that will have a years waranty on it
around 320 as a guesstimate.
get it diagnosed 100% then go from there.
if it has corroded it some machine shops can build back up the corroded area with ally welding then get it skimmed
had the car gas tested and its not that put it up on the ramp and it looks like the water pump has a small seak. so i think that is why it is loseing water and sucking air back in. u have been and got a new pump. can any1 tell me what they are like 2 change???
i have just been lookin at the car and i am not sure if the pupm i have just got is the rite 1. when i got it the bloke in the shop put my car details in the comp and thats wot came up. is there anyway of checking this???
