Help please! Stuttering car

Hello,

I have been having problems for a long time with my 1.8t leon cupra. It stutters around 4000-5000rpm when accelerating hard. If it makes it past the stuttering it will pull hard right up to red line which makes me think it isnt a problem with coil packs. I only notice it in 3rd gear and up. If i floor it from a standstill it normally stops accelerating completely when i go into 3rd gear. Sounds like a bad misfire but i havent had any fault codes and cant really afford to start changing random bits unless i know they will fix it. The fuel consumption is good and feels fine until i need to join a motorway.

Any help would be much appreciated

I havent had any fault codes. Can the coil packs play up without causing a fault code? Thank you

Ah. I didn't read the bit where you mentioned you have no fault codes.

Well the coils should bring up a fault code.

Everything else sounds just like a coil pack though.

Try starting with the simple & cheaper things first ..

What condition / age are the plugs ? & are they gapped correctly ?? If your running higher boost, Some tuners advise a reduced gap...

Also reducing the gap & then trying the vehicle to see if the misfire/stutter has lessend, will help diagnose & generally points to a coil pack/Weak spark ..

Cheers.

try logging the maf with your vag com.
they play up and dont always show a fault code until theyre entirley shot.
the parameters you will need to keep between wil depend on whether the car is mapped or not.

I checked the maf a few weeks ago and it was only reading 80 g/s but it has exactly the same problem with the maf unplugged. Do you think it could still be the maf?
