guys, goona go and look at a cupra on tuesday and the guy has just told me that the engine management light has come on due to him replacing the dump valve with a baileys one which apparently has failed - i say apparantly cos the guy says his mate has the diagnostics software and this is what highlighted the issue.
is this guy talking the truth or should i just walk away?

would it be an expensive job to sort out?

advice is appreciated guys, this would be my first Leon and dont wanna buy a dodgy motor.

It could be that or it could be anything, I would see the diags yourself, post the faults on here and get a 2nd opinion

Alternatively, get him to pay for a new DV, say a Forge 007 as it is less than 100 quid, get the faults cleared, take it for a blast and if they don't return you are in the clear. Then split the cost of the DV with him.

cool, thanks for the advice. will be taking some vagcom software to check the faults and see what comes up. i hope its nothing major, if i think its dodgy then i will just walk away. scraping the barrel if i get this car anyway so dont wanna end up buying it then finding out its gonna cost me to get it fixed.
