Help failed MOT

My beloved LCR failed the MOT test for the second time today on emissions.
APR stage 2 with Blue Flame turbo back with 100-cell cat.
Ever since I had the BF system fitted its thrown up regular fault code for the 2nd Lambda.
This fault has been discussed many times on here and the consensus of opinion seems to be that the Lambda needs to be spaced out a little by fitting a suitable spacer between the sensor and the boss or a spark plug arrestor?
Would fitting such a spacer bring down the CO2 emissions?
I often get a strong smell of fuel on idle, could the Lambda be responsible for over-fuelling? this would tie -up with with the above
The most important question is where can I acquire such a spacer urgently?

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

when you say it's failling.... on what is it failling?

can you type in the reading, and the fail level?

Hi Mark.

These are the readings

Fast idle test Fail level =< 0.30%

CO 0.63%
HC 40ppm

Second fast idle test

CO 0.64%
HC 37ppm

Natural idle test Fail level =< 0.50%

CO 0.66%

spacer won't help - the 2nd probe is just there to make sure the cat is doing something (once the car is warm)

what's the lambda reading?

Keith you had your Blueflame fitted the same time as mine, and my down pipe split almost in two, worth checking.

if this is the case keith is will be the centre weld on the bend... and if it has gone dont worry, you will get their new design DP which is much better! ;)

tho i doubt this problem would cause you to fail emissions?!

I had a split in the exhaust manifold on my M3. It draws air in through the split, so the exhaust gases passing the lambda are 'diluted' compared to what is actually leaving the combustion chamber. The lambda reads this as running lean, and so dumps more fuel in to compensate. So now, the mixture is too rich, not all the fuel is burnt and it gets dumped straight down the tube. Sadly when an MOT man is at the other end, its leads to glum faces all round.
