Disaster!

Not entirely sure whats happened...

I fitted a forge 007p today, with a yellow spring as my LCR is remapped. I took it out for a quick test, and it was fine. after about 5 mins or so, the car sortof "shook" when i pressed the accelerator, and then sortof stalled.

I say sortof, because the car was still running, but the battery light came on, and the power steering turned itself off. Trying to start the car, its starts fine, but then the rev meter slowly drops down until it turns itself off.

Ive checked the hoses on the DV and they are all fine. I didnt have to move anything in fitting it, so I have no idea what it could be. Any suggestions?

I havent, no, as Ive now lost the light. Think that may be the culprit? Seems odd as it was running fine... for a bit.

Just tried starting it again, and it starts, revs up, then the revs drop until it turns off. Im completley lost

That was my automatic assumption, that a hose had popped off. Im pretty certain none have, as I did have a look, although admitadlly the lighting wasnt the best.

I'll give it a good looking at tommorow with some decent light.

Any suggestions if that isnt the problem??

This may sound very silly but may as well weigh the options! have you fitted it correctly putting the right pipes on the right places etc?

Right... think Ive dound the problem. Well, I have.

Its the pipe that runs from the air filter, through the DV, into the bottom of the engine. Is this the turbo inlet pipe?

The bottom end has completley perished around where the jubilee clip was.

I dont know if this was me being too heavy handed, and yanked it off, but it seems to make sense I was having a slight boost leak before anything, which I put down to the DV.

So... I'm pretty sure, but is this the TIP?

On the plus side, if that pipe is the TIP, that was my next upgrade anyway. Talk about timing.

If the power steering failed at the same time the battery light came on, I'd look a the v-belt first. Aircon compressor is driven by the same belt. Sounds to me as though it's snapped.
