Hello there,
I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. Been reading for a few days and finally found the need to actually register so i can make a post.
I have just bought a black 2004 Leon Cupra, lovely motor. Full electrically adjustable leather interior and all the toys. One thing its lacking however is cruise control, so i have booked my baby in to A V I T in slough to have this fitted next week.
They have offered me the free 6 hour APR tuning demo at the same time, to which i said yes. However talking to my mate who owns a vRS i am now in two minds about this. As i understand it after 6 hours it wont revert to MY STANDARD seat map, but will revert to APR's standard map, which may or may not be as good as the original.
Thinking about it logically, APR have no reason to make their standard 180bhp map particularly good because they want to flog their 230bhp upgrade. My question is... Is there any truth in this? And if so, has anyone had this done and was the car as good after the 6 hours was up as it was before? I have little intention of buying the full remap, as at 22years old my insurance is already a killer but i would like to play with it for 6 hours or so. But at the end of the day, i'm not willing to sacrifice my cars performance for the sake of 6 hours of fun.
Second question... (sorry this is getting quite long). I have somehow managed to lock my radio out. If i remember rightly i pressed the prog button (I was just playing) and it flashed up "2000" on the screen. I thought this was maybe the year (I dont know w hy i thought my radio would need to know the year) so pressed the ">" button 6 times until it read "2006".
When i turn the radio on, it now says "SAFE" and NO buttons do anything. I presume its in some sort of security mode, but the radio manual is rubbish. I dont think i have the code either...
Final question, my car came with 2 keys only. I didnt get the "Code Tag" which is mentioned in the manual. I have yet to ask the previous owner if he still has it, but how much of a problem is it if he hasnt....
Would appreciate your comments guys n gals.
Cheers
