yes.. slower when hot.
slow running in traffic? hot to touch inlet manifold?

considered something like an insulator gasket?

:)

maybe see if anything comes up on vag com, with the hot weather most turbo cars will suffer the old heat soak, sat in traffic does not help either.

when the cold weather comes it feels like you have been re flashed with the software.

How long you had the fmic? is this the first summer with it on, if not then you should know how it deals with the hot weather so might be something else...... :banghead:

bill, did you sort out your broadband matey (sorry for going off topic)

bill do you sell the insulator gaskets? is there any issue with heat being held on the head instead? :)

I'm not sure there's much you can do apart from aquamist or similar.
FMIC can't cool the air lower than ambient so if it's 30C outside it will feel sluggish. Bear in mind that in winter, intake temps may reach 30c with FMIC. In summer this may result in intake temps going over 40c. Haven't got VAGcom so have no real proof but I suppose it's just common sense, although my sense isn't common so I may be wrong, lol.

I do sell em.... concidentally. :p :D

no ill effects from insulating inlet manifold. the insulator 'delays' in inevitable heat soak from conducted heat from the cylinder head into the inlet manifold, where the engine inlet air temp sits. (sat in a hot oven)

slow speed running in traffic etc, been parked etc will always heatsoak into anything which can absorb the heat.... metal inlet manifold on hot cylinder head for example.

slow moving traffic will allow this heat to convince the air inlet temp sensor the incoming air is very hot (>60'C not uncommon) where as it is'nt that hot really, but the sensor is sat in an oven and throttle opening and airflow is low in these conditions so it does'nt even get much of a cooling breeze to tell it otherwise.. ECU thinks.... blimey its hot... and configures accordingly.

£35 insulator gasket delays this onset, with inlet mani's air temp sensor.

regards

bill

Is this otherwise known as a evosheild?

kind of...

These are'nt EVOshield, I do these but have run out of smallport versions, only got largeport left at the mo.

They are the same type of phenolic material, do the same job, and have been made for me.

Here for details & pricing (whilst its still this low from current batch)
