Heaterswitch - Failed resistors?

Hello folks..

My fan blower switch has stopped working on positions 1, 2 and 3...Do i have some failed resistors here??

yes for sure the symptoms you got there (only works full speed) are a classic heater resistor style failure

what year/model etc is it >?

Its a Leon 1.6 16v, year is 2002...

forgot to add is it a/c and wether it's knobs/dials or digital

:)



yes, its aircon....its the type of centre console that has 3 dials...first is temp, middle is fan speed and the right one is direction ( window, feet etc etc )

Hi, don't know whether you ever managed to get the problem fixed, but I have the same issue. I just found your post whilst pileing through looking for a guide to change the heater resistor. I got one off ebay, and know that its located passenger footwell, but need reassurance as to how to change it. Just thought I way be of help, even though you've probably fixed or maybe even sold your motor by now lol!

Hiya mate...Its just a case of pulling the plug out of the square box and unscrewing it...nothing can go wrong ( famous last words ..lol )....will take you about 5 mins...

I did have a bit of an issue with the plug where it goes on to the box...it had melted and burnt, so i had to butcher the plug...worked in the end though...

Hope yours is a quick change...
