Heater stuck on hot

Hi all my heater is blowing out hot air all the time, regardless of what i set the climate control to, the flow rate or whether air con is on or off. Setting the cabin temp to high or low makes no difference to the air temp. The air con does "click" on when i press the button and my coolant temp is normal. The coolant also gets up to temp nice and quick. I have already replaced the coolant temp sensor with a revised "green" one this summer.

Could this be thermostat or outside temp sensor failure? I noticed that my outside temp on the dash was a little high this morning at 13 degrees but otherwise it has been fine. Suggestions appreciated, my car is an LCR 225 53 plate.

mine did this for about aweek last year, each time i turned the engine off then back on it cleared it . i was going to get it looked at but it has not done it again since (touch wood ). when i posted the fault on here some one mentioned a valve maybe sticking open somewhere on the system.

on most cars now theres a motorised vavle that controls the flow round the heater matrix, it sounds like this has packed up in the open position!

That sounds like a dashboard out job, glad mine only dose it intermittently, it only seems to do it if I do a few short journeys.

on my last car it was under the bonnet on the flow pipe to heater matrix took 5 min to change. i cant say how easy it is on a leon as haven't done 1!

Ok thanks guys. Drove the car home and it was like being in a sauna! And i couldn't turn the heater off because i was steaming up in the rain!

dont panic just yet - well not quite

more than likely a stuck/faulty flap motor

if you look up climate control secrets theres a diagnostic i think on that list might be worth a try

Thanks i checked it out and i in "1c" i have 3 numbers alternating - 5.1, 9.5 and 15.7. Anyone know if that helps me? I checked the above link and there seems to be no 9.x numbers. But 5.1 relates to an outside temp sensor and 15.7 seems to be some kind of blockage of the air flow flap. I don't know where either of these are located.

Ok drove the car this morning and all is fine again, the temperature is fully adjustable as normal

Is there another component that could be affected by this damp weather we have been getting so much of recently? In very wet weather priior to this i had my outside temp sensor telling me it was -50 degrees, but that reset the next day too once the heavy rain stopped.
