Couple of weeks ago my heater blower stopped working, the fan just isn't running.
On starting the car the climatronic flashes for a few seconds but looks and works normally after that, adjusting the flaps when buttons are pressed etc.
I've checked the 5A fuse to the right of the dash panel, its fine.
I've removed the back of the glovebox and the connection to the motor is OK, but I remade it anyway.
Unfortunately I don't have my voltmeter here to check if the motor is getting any power, but I don't think it is.
Are there any other fuses which affect the blower?
I've read that there is a resistor pack which is known to fail, but does this exist on the climate cars as I can't see it anywhere near the motor?
Is there a relay which affects the motor?
Whilst I was under there, I changed the pollen filter, which was dirty but not so much to be forcing debris into the fan blades and stopping them.
VAG-COM shows the following.
Address 08: Auto HVAC
Controller: 6L0 820 043 A
Component: CLIMAtronic PQ24 0201
Coding: 0000000
Shop #: WSC 00000
5 Faults Found:
00710 - Defroster Flap Positioning Motor (V107)
000 - -
01271 - Positioning Motor for Temperature Flap (V68)
000 - -
01274 - Air Flow Flap Positioning Motor (V71)
000 - -
01273 - Fresh Air Blower (V2)
000 - -
00457 - Control Module for Network (J519)
013 - Check DTC Memory
The 3 top ones have always been there, the motors aren't particularly happy, but they do work still. 00457 has been there for a while, but the blower was still working.
01273 is a new one, which is the blower itself, hence why its not working.
00457 can apparently relate to Cent. Elec which is OK.
Address 09: Cent. Elect.
Controller: 6Q1 937 049 C
Component: 00 BN-SG. 1S33
Coding: 00140
Shop #: WSC 06402
No fault code found.
Ideas appreciated.
Thanks
Chris
