just looking through the Seat Brochure, and there's an ibiza that appears to have the contorl for heated seats "VW stylee" near the climate control......were these ever an option or option abroad? or any aftermarket kits? Can't beat a warm bum on a cold winter morning!!

hmmmm........got me interested now.....looking at gettin a retrim shortly after delivery of the car so they could whack them in then...... :)

(bit of topic....but if getting an FR re-trimmed - are there any complications with the seat airbag??)

it will have to be stitched so it will rip open in event of airbag going off

when airbag is activated on a bezzer seat on the fr and the cupra the o/s front side stiching is simply ripped apart and the airbag deploys out that way so keep the stiching places the same

Reviving an old thread....

Has anyone seriously looked into retro-fitting the heated seats to a Mk4 Ibiza ?

They were originally an option when I bought my Ibiza in Holland, back in 2003.

Just wonder if you could retro-fit the elements to existing seats, or whether the seats themselves are different...

What are you lot like - you talk about wanting BIG horsepower, big alloys, re-maps, mean looking bumpers, etc... Then when it comes down to it, complain about the cold and want heated seats! :p :D

.....heated seats are FOR GIRLSSS !! ;)

Well since I've had them in the Passat, they make a BIG difference at 6am on a freezing winter's morning, I can tell you !

For cars that have air-bags in the seats, opening the seat up and placing a heating element and other items in there could have a negative effect on the safety of that seat - airbags might not deploy properly etc.

Even stiching the seats back up might also compromise safety, as the stiching might not allow the seat to 'open' properly when the bags deploy, or mal-function potentially causing more harm than good.

If you are wanting heated seats why not go out and buy a fluffy hot-water-bottle and whack it on the seat before you drive off - cheaper too, and you might be able to find one that matches the colour of your skirt. :)

Are the elements just in the base of the Ibiza seat, or in the backrest as well ?

Given that heated seats were an option offered abroad I don't see there could be any issues with airbags etc.

What I want to know is whether all the seats are the same, and it's just a case of fitting heating elements to them ?

Only joking mate. It's kinda comical. :)

I leave the house in my car at 5AM to get to work, when I work the 'early shift'... just put the heater on and after a few minutes you're toasty anyway.

If you are used to those comforts then perhaps you feel lost without it - suppose thats why you bought a SEAT, as compared to PROPER sports cars that have a more sparce cockpit, with attention paid more to performance and lightweight, rather than bells and whistles!?

The problem I found with my Ibiza was that the TDI engine just doesn't warm up from idling, so it took ages to warm up, usually several miles of driving before any useable heat came through.

The Passat has an electrical auxiliary coolant heater which means I have nice warm air in less than a couple of minutes idling, but the Ibiza doesn't get such luxuries.
