When i'm driving with the fan/ac off I still get a lot of heat coming in from the vents (to the point that i have to close the vents)!!

Is this normal?

turn the temp gauge from hot to cool, prefferable in the middle or a bit more towards cool.

mine does this too before you turn it off turn the temperature down to normal then it isnt noticable it is very annoying when you dont want any air coming through but it feelslike the blowers are on the first bar or something

Thats because your car is so fast, but yeah pretty much every car I have been in does this.

cars have changed since the mini and it's cable operated hot water tap

on modern cars the hot water flows through the heater matrix all the time, they design the cooling system with this in mind
you will never stop the heater producing heat but turning the blower off and closing the vents is the best way to try
