Ive currently got a mk4 ibiza pre facelift model with the standard factory headunit in its been on my mind for a long long time to get the headunit that i had i my old car fitted into the ibiza

i am just having a few doubts because i asked the dealer when i bought the car about changing the head unit and he says me personally i wouldnt because there was some fancy name he called the leads thats already there connected to the headunit that u need to change or something but unless you know a garage that knew what they were doing

and ive just had a few people say that there ibiza dash rattles as much as a baby rattle once theve got a new headunit in

just wandering if many other users on here have changed there headunit from standard?

I have an Alpine head unit in mine and have had no problems,
and all there is to connect it the aerieal and wiring harnesses assuming you do not have any amps in your car :)

well all you'd need is an arial booster, its only 2 wires so its not that bad

i'd recommend a pioneer, mine is the bees knees, especially for ipod and video playback. see my car thread if you need any ideas

he/she obviously don't know much about modding and whats involved...all you need is an adapter that plugs straight onto what is already there in order to convert all the controls to work with your new hu

i have yet to see or hear that from any member on here  mine is solid as should all hu's as they're all fixed to an outer cage which all come in 2 sizes: single-din and double-din. all that changes is the outer fascia

only problem with installing your own hu is that as the dash is slightly convex the hu won't sit as flush to the edge

you don't necessarily NEED a booster...i live in south London and catch good signal up until i start moving quite far out of the outskirts

p.s. another vote for Pioneer  by far the simplest to use without any loss in quality (on par with Alpine). check out my thread

Do it, standard radio is pants compared to decent aftermarket. Do you have on wheel controls? If so you will need an adapter to make them work with your new HU if it supports this...otherwise dead easy.

also ensure it is AUX port compatible as this will let you keep the AUX-in by the handbrake (on facelift models only)
