This is pissing me off now... I've got all the bits I need, and a switch panel in the post for relocating the hazards, but the kit I've bought : Here doesn't fit properly, there's no proper mounting holes or anything in the dash, and the cage can't go deep enough in because of the lump in the back. (See images).

Not sure next steps? Worth me sending back the kit I've got and finding another? It doesn't look like anything will fit however.

I personally have positive experiences with the vehicle-specific Zenec models

Watching the video from the zenec installation the vehicle they are installing into has holes in the dash they screw the new head unit into. Mine doesn't have that (see images in op). I'm installing a double din unit too.

why not the vehicle-specific shape?
The vehicle specific shape is just the facia panel, which is what I'm having a problem with for some reason. The zenec unit is really really pricey, you can't buy it anywhere, and doesn't even have android auto etc... the dash fits a double din unit, so I just need to use the correct facia to adapt it, but my car seems to be odd by lacking all the mounting holes others seem to have. Zenec or not, I don't physically have the mounting points.

OK, I know of a DIN 2 holder for this model that fits properly.

why not a good Chinese device in vehicle form?

That's literally what I've got, eonon ua12s+ , but it requires the facia plate like most of the Chinese head units.

You got the link for that 2 din holder?

Just going through the exact same as you with slightly different kit I ended up making the bracket fit by using a dremel and cutting and putting screws / speedclips in where the red x is and hot gluing where the red lines are. It all fits but not right for the car it seems the later face lift models are not compatible with these units 100% nor the bracket. The facia is different. So I feel your pain.

I now have issues with the SET button after relocation harness in the centre console and navigation prompts unable to hear them in CarPlay. It’s been a journey and may be returned.

How are you getting on. Did you progress / return.

I was fitting the one in picture attached and was looking at you kit but seems both have same issues.

I ended up cutting about an inch off the back of the radio cage (turns out it was stainless steel so needed an angle grinder), that let it fit fine. drilled 2 holes for screws in the dash where you marked with Xs, but didn't use them in the end. After smoothing the 2 sticking out bits in the plastic and cutting away a bit of the plastic at the top I was able to glue the front facia in.

My unit slides into a double din cage (EONON UA12s), but I couldnt get it in with clips, so again... glue to secure it in the cage. Fitted the facia on the front of the cage, this stops it moving backwards, and then a good helping of glue on the back of the internal facia panel and just slid it all into place. its pretty secure, though I should have taped the wires down at the back as they rattle a bit. benefit here being I can easily pull the whole thing out and glue it back in if I need to.

I've had no issues with the relocation harness, although my car doesn't have TPMS so while I have the set button, it doesn't do anything.

Your issue with carplay is a carplay issue rather than a head unit issue, does audio work fine outside of carplay, or even outside of navigation on carplay? you've probably get navigation volume turned down really low. I know we wont be on the same OS, as my HU is running android 13, yours is probably 10? so maybe a different zlink version, but it shouldn't make any difference as its the phone responsible for the audio in carplay/AA not the HU. AA works fine on my unit, cant test carplay as I dont have any desire to spend £1200 on a **** locked down phone.
