hazard and indicators not working?

My son's Arosa has developed a problem that seems to be quite common with this model according to all the 'forums' he's tried. His hazards and indicators packed up. Drove to work (he's a postman) fine, got in the car 8 hrs later no indicators. When he got home checked fuses O.K. checked bulbs O.K.Then realized hazards were'nt working either.Been
on a couple of forums,probably this one as well, most were blaming the hazard relay,which as far as we could make out is incorporated in the hazard switch. Purchased new switch, 'Bingo' nothing happened. Someone mentioned the 'stalk'could it be that? Wiring is live to the hazard switch. Any Auto electricians out there with an answer to this
'common ' fault. Your suggestions (concerning the problem) would be much appreciated.

on the Leon's the relay is in the switch, take of the stalk and check its connecting, give a clean and a squirt of wd-40 and see if it sorts it. I did this on mine and it worked

Hi! thanks for for your suggestion, forgot to state the Arosa is a'98'model. I'm taking the new hazard switch back to be tested on the offchance its faulty,and hopefully get a refund if it isn't. I don't know anything about Seat's,but we were considering the 'stalk' as our next and 'final' option before mortaging house and taking it to the garage. We thank you for taking an interest in our problem. My son's still using it for work using handsignals.

re-hazards and indicators

Took the hazard switch back and asked if they could check that it was working, bearing in mind this is a Main dealership, they can't check the switch without the car( put a meter on it?), we'll order a new one. while waiting we had the 'stalk' off cleaned and checked it, the lights dipped and main beam works, just indicators not working. New sw; arrived today tried it still won't work. We're at a loss now, relay and stalk seem to be O.K. Ako.
