Have I done the right thing?

My car flashed up with the engine warning light on the way to work today - the one that looks like an engine, and is called something about pollution warning according to the manual. The car drove fine, sounded fine, idled fine but this light was stuck on solid.
I searched this forum from work to see what it might be, and found out it could be any number of problems! So I stopped thinking about it until I could get home and get VAG-COM on it.

I drove home, again with the light on, and all felt fine still, so fairly confident it's nothing serious. When I got home I scanned it with VAG-COM and it gave me the same 17705 error I had before (separate thread about this previously, relating to limp mode and no boost) but this time I also had 17545 as well, which is something to do with it running rich.

I searched for info again and found it's possible it could be a faulty lamda sensor, but decided to clear the fault and go for a good drive. It cleared fine, started the car fine and the light didn't come back on. So off I went for a 'spiritied' drive to see what happens.

So far, so good. No return of the light. So can I assume it was a one-off freak incident, or have I done a bad thing in clearing it?

Any advice would be appreciated :)

Running rich is defo better than running lean as far as your engine is concerned but long term your CAT won't thank you.

It's possible it's a one off. Did you cure the cause of the original fault code or are you now hoping that two won't come back?

The problem is I'm not 100% sure what the original problem was caused by, so it's not easy to cure it. I'm hoping that if there is a problem, it will make itself known again via a warning light or error code, so I'll give it a few days and VAG-COM it again.
I'm also hoping that this new code was a one-off problem and wont come back, but time will tell on that one.

(edit) Ah, sorry, just re-read your post... thought you were referring to the second code...

I haven't yet cured the original problem and code, as I'm waiting for a new Forge 007P DV to arrive. That's my first port of call, followed by a new N75 if that doesn't work.
