Has anyone changed rear pads, help really needed

Hi folks, i'm in desparate nean of help.

My rear left pads has worn out on my LCR so i have bought a new set today to replace.

I have changed the pads on my previous 5 car with no problem.

I have undone the fixing bolts etc but no way can i open up the piston.

I have undone the top of the fluid reservoir etc, removed the handbrake cable to avoid any tension but no way can i open the piston to install the new pads.

I have even reatttahed the cable and seen the piston moving under the handbrake so doesn't look seized.

I have now even removed the brake line, bleed niple etc to rule out there being any presure but still no joy.

Normally once i have found a bit of play betweeen the pad and piston i can open the piston with a driver etc but no way will this budge.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you need to wind the piston back you need a special tool to do it most motor factors hire them out
i had the same problem on my ibiza cupra

You need to turn the piston clockwise as well as pushing it back at the same time, get yourself down to halfords and purchase a 'caliper piston windback tool' this will make easy work of a pad change.

Nice one i did wonder, never had to use one of those before though!!

How do you turn the piston whilst using the tool, suppose i'll find that out myself.

The plot thickens though and i'm embarrased to admit it.

Whilst struggling my arse off i have caused a leak whjere the brake line joins up with the banjo.

Any suggestions, apart from being such an amature t**t!!

the tool works like a g clamp it turns in the piston
i would unscrew the brake line and check for fractures in the pipe

It does seem to be coming from the part where the hose joins into the banjo though by the caliper end???

is there a copper washer that goes on the pipe if so it could be damaged

a long nose pair of pliers does the job if ure in a rush with little tools just apply pressure to them.have you bled a brake system b4???

Copper washer i'm not too sure.

What do i apply the pressure to goble where the banjo and hose meet.

Yes i've bled a brake system before with a kit from Halfords, seemed quite easy/!!

on the piston i think there is 2 locating holes you could put long nose pliers in and turn clockwise but you must apply presure at the same time!

Ah i see what you mean.

I have struggled my arse off today so the thought of a tool from| Halfords that'll make it easy tomorow sounds to good to miss.

I'm more concerned about the leak now though, don't know if i should be buying a new hose or they're repairable or what.

As i said it's where the hose and banjo join so maybe they can be remade off??

Is the braded hose just the bit from the solid line to the caliper (about 12" long??)

I've put braided hoses on my bike but they're the full length

I'm being a Dime bar i know but it is Christmas and my head is a little slow at the moment!!

p.s when u bleed it if u dont get a pedal u might have to bleed the master cylinder bleed nipple
but becareful they snap off easily

Is there any quick fix method i could do to stop the leak until i have the replacement hose??

Where the hell would i get a standard replacement hose from a main stealer??

if my some 1 in 100 chance you had an accident and killed someone they you'd be in big kaka

what about taking the hose off and taking it to your local motor factors they might be able to match it up ,, dealer might take a couple of days to get one!

I wouldn't of driven it with the leak obviously just wanted something th get me around but hear what you are saying.

That's a good idea will give that a go.

Bleedin bad time of the year to have this sort of crap though!!
