Hi all,

Hopefully someone can shed some light but apologies if this is in the wrong section.

Is anybody on here in the car trade and if so, can you help with providing a ‘book price’ please?

Ive looked on ;we buy any car; and they value my car at 2.5k which is low but was expected. My girlfriend is expecting our first baby in April so my pride and joy has to go for the time being, so going to look to trade it in this weekend or next. Some details of my car:

Make: Seat
Model: Leon Cupra r 225
Registration: Private plate but will be on 54 reg.
Owners: Im the 2nd
Mileage: 62,000 approx.
FSH: Yes
Cambelt changed: Yes, this was done at 38k so don’t think its 30 – 40k change on these is it? Seat dealer said when it gets about 75 – 80k
Colour: Black
Condition: Ok – stone chips and wheels would benefit from refurb.

Sorry guys if you’re getting loads of these same questions but was hoping that when they say a figure I don’t feel like im getting spanked all the time . I was looking / hoping for 3k trade in – is that realistic?

Thanks

Hi
I think you would be better aiming for private sale - 2.5 is rubbish!!!
I think its work 3.5 at least!!!
Your car sounds cracking - i would give you 3k for it !!
Or swap - diesel honda accord 04 plate - 117k full honda service history

Its a family friendly five door hatchback. The boot is spacious enough to fit pushchair and shopping.
Unless your doing heavy mileage and need a diesel I can't see why you need to sell it.

It also depends on how much the new car is mate, ie if it's only say 6k they will give you as little as possible for your car where as if it's a 15k car your after they are more inclined to give you a better deal so they get the commission on the sale.

there is no book price, there is only a guide to what traders will offer you, all traders are different, some are greedy b***ards and some are quite good, i got offered 2200 for mine months ago with 90l platinum grey with recaros 2005, its worth 3800 and full trade price they could sell for 4600 easily so it all depends who the trader is

Thanks for all the replies.

Yeh the car makes a great family car too be honest and i just enjoy the buzz every time I drive it, but we will be going down to one car family and I'd hate to watch my misses destroy it so to speak. Also work commitments mean I'm travelling 400+ miles a week which I didn't buy the car to enjoy on the motorway.

Think I'm going to go for some dirty diesel action next time - I like the fr Leon's so will have a look at these.

Thanks all.

He was hoping you'd take the £2.5k and He'd have it up at £4.5k within a week. Either that or he fancied it for himself!
