Its time to get a service on the Haldex unit, what's the going rate to get this done with the filter cleaned on the pump as well ? I have been quoted £300+ which seems rather expensive.

Most good independents charge around the £100 mark for an oil change and filter clean. £300 is crazy money.

With a lift you can easily do this yourself. Not even 1h job first time.
If FWD it's a bit trickier due to the tight space.

£100 if going Indy max.

Piss easy to do yourself for ~£40 ish *providing you can get under your car with it being 100% level*

Dozens of YouTube videos on this.

The £300+ quote is more like a DSG service, whoever gave you that I’d steer well clear of if they don’t know the difference between DSG and Haldex service.

Sorry if I have misread your post, but why would a FWD car have a Haldex unit?

It’s the same pump (and thus service) on the FWD LSD front differential as the 4WD/4drive Haldex system that is being referred to.

You were spot on they had quoted me for a DSG Service and not a Haldex service.

Thought it could be so.

You should be looking at £100 ish but make sure they know about/how to clean the gauze also on the pump.
As it’s not in the official workshop manual many places inc Seat don’t do it.

I paid £130 inc VAT. A little higher than the norm, but swings and roundabouts… eg the independent that I use wouldn’t charge labour for a brake fluid change if getting discs/pads replaced (which to be honest is just naughty, because it’s very tempting to leave the tools where they are!).

Another thing a good VAG specialist independent should be able to do is update the electronic service record for the car.
