Had the first 10k service at the weekend - all OK and not a mention of a remap!

£134.

I'd swear the car is getting quicker. 10K and all the bits seem to be gelling quite nicely thanks.

When I enquired about the Seat power upgrade for the TDI's in Europe, they told me that Seat UK wont allow it for some stupid reason.

Yesterday I took the Leon to Star Performance in Kirckaldy, Fife who specialize in VW Group engine tuning and got a re-map done!

UNBELIEVABLE!!!

New figures are 194BHP and 302lb/ft of Torque!!

That's an extra 54BHP and 67lb/ft of torque!

The difference in pulling power from 3rd through to 6th is quite simply astonishing - and it was no slouch beforehand!

There's also a noticeable difference in smoothness all through the gear range - just feels unhindered if that's the right word.

Put your foot down in any of the high gears and the the thing just flys - huge stomach wrenching grunt.

Re-map took 30mins and cost a cool £500 notes - probably the best money I have ever spent.

I'm doing an 80mile commute to work every day so will let you know how the economy is affected but Star Performance reckon if it's driven "sensibly" the average economy will increase - I'm getting 44 at the moment and I have a habit of exceeding the speed limits if you know what I mean!

Star Performance have a TFSi Leon as part of their fleet and that is curently pushing out 250BHP!

DO IT - YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO.
think thats gut wrenching ..get a 315 bhp cupra and then talk about power ...its wrenching in every gear:drool:
all 6 of them

VW do offer an upgrade on chip and exhaust to take 140 upto 168 and was assured was covered by warranty as vw parts sure seat could do the same!

Does anyone know if remapping would effect the shift point on the DSG???

2.0TDI SPORT DSG LUNAR GREY

i have been told by AMD and Awesone that a stage 1 on a DSG will work fine as they have done a few and wont kill the car.

Sounds good, going to take my Ibiza fr to star performance. Says on the site it takes it up from 130 to 175bhp! Not bad for the light weight Ibiza.

K4ith, did you pop in yesterday?

Spoke to a bloke at Star with a silver TDi Golf while I was there.

Jim mentioned that they are after a TDi FR cos he reckons that Seat have upgraded the turbo and injectors which should produce 250 BHP after a re-map.

Not noticed any more smoke as yet.

Noticed the Milltek exhaust on Star's Leon - might have to invest in a few months - going to enjoy the re-map first though!
I am looking at getting a Seat TDI and tuning it to make it as fast as it can be. BUT it is worth doing this to a TDI or just invest in petrol version instead. As you mentioned investing in an exhaust system was it for a TDI and if so is it wise to do this on TDI's as I thought it messed them up?? cud be wrong as I am new to tuning and Seats for that matter!!

Any advice is appreciated.

you can tune your TDI to get some cracking figures and performance. Petrol is the obvious choice for mega figures and performance. Some of the cupra lads are running 300bhp+ safely, with relative inexpensive mods. Remap and exhaust on a cupra alone, and youl get close to 300bhp. TDIs are different, they can give you a good balance. You can get a relatively easy 200bhp / 300lbft with remap but still get 50mpg dependant on driving style.
My 140 is pushing around 220 and 360+lbft with decat, backbox removal, high flow cusom induction and remap to suit. Hybrid turbo and remap will get you more still. Theres a guy on here by the name of devonmikeyboy, Hes got a 140 TDI A3 which is kicking out over 300bhp safely. One thing i will say though, if you go down the performance route, get the work done by reputable people. Same goes for remapping. Dont be tempted for the cheaper option. Thats when the horror stories happen
