Yeah just leave the headlights switched on. Don't just switch it to sidelights, that'd drain your battery.

What cables you haven't linked one? Rosstech cables are genuine for vag com now called vcds.Does anyone know if one of these cables will work with vagcom or will come back as un licenced?

All cheap ones are risky and may or may not work. I tried a cheap one first and it said unlicensed and didnt do anything so I bought genuine
Leaving Home Lights
This feature turns on your lights when you unlock the car (if your headlight switch is on). I believe this option is standard if you have the auto lights option. This also adds an option in the MFD lights menu for how long it will stay on.
