Hey,
do you guys notice any sound improvement after fitting RNS 510? I hate oem player because of sound quality, but afraid to upgrade in terms of wasting cash.

Mine sounds better. People on the Golf forum say the RNS/ RCD *10 series have a new generation of amplifier compared to the old factory unit. Not significant but noticeable IMO

Bought another RNS 310 as the cracked screen on my current one was getting a little annoying (for sale if anyone interested)

Planning on fitting the new one properly, can anyone help me find the correct screws/ U nuts? Bit unsure what exactly is required

Anyway the question is, the steering wheel controls wont work with my latest RNS, I dont understand how as my last version B worked find :S
Any ideas, please help?

If anyone could help me out on this it would be much appreciated! Unit should arrive tomorrow and I'll be fitting in evening.

Am I along the right lines with this - http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_162297_langId_-1_categoryId_255228 ?

All sorted now, much nicer to have a working touchscreen and everything fitted properly. Only slight disappointment is I've lost the 'SEAT Media System 2.0' boot screen and it now says 'Welcome to Volkswagen' but never mind

Fitted my RNS-510 last night and I'm pleased to say it was a doodle!

No coding needed, didn't need to change the 'Safe Pin' either. The only cable I had to swap was the Aux for the OEM factory iPod dock under the drivers seat. The sound from the iPod was awful so followed some advice from the oracle (Google) and swapped pin 2 to pin 3 (2 minute job) and sound was excellent after that.:funk:

Can't believe that everything just works. All steering wheel controls, Bluetooth, phone kit, all info on Highline display...........just waiting on my fascia surround now!:D

Anyone know if the clock shift issue affects the RNS 310, or is it just the 510?

I'm fitting Highline clocks to my car soon.

Fitted and got the dreaded clock shift problem :(

The guy who fitted highline tried changing the coding as suggested earlier in the thread and we left the battery unplugged for a good few minutes but no luck. Can anyone shed any light?

To confuse things its a 2010 RNS 310 in a 2008 Leon with a 2006 Highline Cluster!

For example I have coding normally 040004000400001300. To hide compass i change to 040004000400005300, because Byte 7 normally I had 00010011 (in hex 13) to hide commpas 01010011 (in hex 53). Don't use long coding helper , because bit 6 is indescribable. Type coding manually in main menu.
Audio, Navi, Phone on MFD working well. We lose only small compass.

Sorry for the triple posting but if anyone wants to have a go at working out what it shoud be for the RNS 310, my OEM coding is 040004010402000000000000

It seems to be a longer length than the RNS 510...

Had another look into this today, coding definitely differs between the two. The RNS 310 Byte 7 doesn't look the same at all as that from the RNS 510:

Really hope I can get to the bottom of this some day!

Well, after having a Kenwood DNX-521VBT fitted, I've got a bit narked with loosing the factory fitted bluetooth and voice control that I had in the car in the first place.

So I've got myself an RNS-510, VW version with the SD card slot. I've had a test fit & it all works fine, I have the voice control back and Bluetooth works fine and all the steering wheel buttons work fine.
I've fitted the GPS antenna & the nav works fine

I had to take it out as I will have to cut some of the plastic out with a dremmel to make it fit 100% in the dash.

One small question.

How do I change the start up screen from the current VW one to the correct SEAT start up screen?

Thanks in advance

Mine was fine without a new gateway, you should be ok.

Nice upgrade! Try this link - http://www.netdata.be/iso/

Only works for some units though. My 310 is stuck on a VW screen but I've learnt to live with it.
