Best of luck Hooch whatever happens.

I know I paid plenty for Awesome to fit my APR Stage 3 kit on my MKIV which is for sale BTW if anyone's interested but your paying for an off the shelf proven kit. I cannot begin to imagine the 400+ brigade but IMO 340 bhp is enough for some pretty exciting moments.

I will be sorry to see my chariot go but hopefully I will still be in possession of it for the RR day at AWESOME.

as you can see. i finally got a flexy in the WG pipe, fully strengthend the collector and changed the shape of the runner along with a slip joint. the slip joint is 3 skins thick.

should be running today

So did you get it all finished? The mods they have done look loads better. How is the downpipe clearance to the new slip joint? Fingers crosser eh?! :)

I'm shocked by how much they've have to change the design. They can't have made very many before. Let's hope it lasts.

Can somebody explain the science behind the slip joint? A joint that moves like that would leak in my book. Obiously it won't otherwise it wouldn't be there. But still, I don't quite get it.

We use slip joints offshore but these are elastomer and lubricated with water.
Or grease packed under constant pressure.

As you said for a slip joint to work it has to have some sort of sealing method that isn't effected by lateral movement

Seems like they have actually put some time and effort into making it stronger and more tolerant to the stresses it has to go through instead of just fixing the cracks and doing a few 1/2 arsed mods to the design. Good luck hooch.

so grease packed under pressure in the sense that they can move slightly (from lubrication of grease) but the grease and constant pressure keeps them sealed?

just a damned good fit on slip joint will be leak proof.. expansion may make them seal, but some cold start leaks may occur until its got hot enough

had her up and running this weekend :)

a good friend jp (jnl racing) made me a custom mould which i gave to sfs to make me a silicone t-peice. it goes in with the 60mm boost pipes with a 40mm take off for my huge DV. re-run the pipework to the tip also in 40mm. ive now lost the surge which is awesome. also LOADS faster. im convinced ill be getting low 12's and maybe 11s with good tyres up pod :D:D RAPID!!!

manifold has held up for the 70 miles i did yesterday :D things are looking up
