That would make sense. Make the indicator the legal minimum so you know exactly if you're legal or not. No excuses then.

Well, as previously mentioned, I thought Germany was 3mm limit....

I can see your point Rob - but then again if you checked your tyres and you were already on or below the TWI (you'd not know if you were below unless you measured it, because as the tyre tread wears lower the TWI will wear down as well) you'd already be breaking the law.....

It's still an intreguing (sp?) question though... I just know I'm going to change my tyres before they get that low - just this one caught me off guard.

omg!

The thread I posted is the international standard in the EEC, Brazil, India and lots of other places in the world.

The TWI is set at 1.6mm for the UK Tyre market.

If your tyres are running flush with this indicator you will need to replace them, as you run the risk of a fine/points. Make sure you check across the whole section width of the tread, as sometimes tread (If not tracked correctly) can show differing wear rates.

Well i've just had my tyres fitted :D

2 brand spanking new GSD3's on the front now - total cost of £200 all in.

Not bad!

Tyre place is Barmer tyres - they are attached to the side of Asda in Chandlers ford.

However - i think they realised their mistake with prices - as they then tried to charge me £110 per tyre - but because of the quote they gave me they did it for the £100 each :)

Only 1 downside - my car is now pulling to the left again :( booooooooooo
