LOL, too many Audi/VW group lovers on this forum.

My Dad's getting rid of my mums Golf Mk4 gti in favour of a 03 330d. I'll see if I can talk them into a remap. Looks like they might be owning a fleet of bmw's soon. Rather strange for a man who has always disliked the BMW. That said he thinks my mum's golf is the worst built car they've had for years. Its in the garage every other week.

I think the 535D looks awesome, the 335d not so, but the 335Cd looks rather special.

A BMW 535d and 335d will piss over every stock diesel car going in a straight line.

bar the 5.0 V10 tdi Phaeton Mike, don't forget that, still one of the most powerfull tdi's out there, much quicker than a 535 or 335!:p

easy one to forget i suppose, being the most powerful production diesel in the world.....lol

time for a MINI adventure
Nice one Ant!

Me not a fan of BMW's the nearest I'd get is a Mini Cooper S, supercharged tho not turbo'd! Love the sound the engine makes! It would have to have every single extra for me to change from my beloved Ibiza as I love her to pieces! In BRG white stripes, the extra driving lamps, TLC pack, Chili Pack, Sunroof, Climate, SatNav, Full Leather (black) then maybe I may trade in! lol

Back to engines tho, VW rule the diesel market now with their PD units, well in my opinion! V10 TDi all the way!!! :cartman:

i agree, i considered other small diesel engined cars to the ibiza fr tdi

but looking around there are no others with the all round package the fr tdi offers, plus its better looking than most other small cars imo and its a vw

winning package for me in terms of what i am looking for

The new ones do 0-60 in around 6.5 seconds so I wouldn't have thought so.

a friends mother owns one, so he borrowed it for a run to the shops via racing me, so actually having raced one i would have thought so :)

I wish there was more sporty diesels about then i might have more choice when it comes to getting my next car unless i do a devonmikeyboy and get an A3 and tune it to death lol .which would be harder to do as am over in N.Ireland where most diesels produce big massive clouds of black smoke then blow up lol (that what happens to nearly everyone who gets there car remapped for 150 pound) don get me wrong there plenty of diesel tuning going on over here just not sure who i would go to .

They don`t do a 5.0 V10 tdi Phaeton but they do make a W12 4motion LWB which is 0.1 secs quicker to 60mph then the 335d if you want to spend £73,770.00 on a car/bus so i wouldn`t say it is that much quicker and i would love to see that bus try and corner like the 335d M Sport does but hay whats 0.1 secs between friends or even me and you Ant :bleh:

No Chance! The Phaeton is over 1s slower to 62 thanks to it weighing about 2.7 tons!! A nicely fettled 130PD would have a good go upto 60-70.

Oh and Mike they do do a V10 TDi Phaeton, saw one the other day...

see here for tech spec, although that is the LWB one,

http://www.whatcar.co.uk/car-review-performance.aspx?RT=461&ED=45294&U=0

Get the optional sports upgrade carried out by Superchips through delaer and you suddenly have 370bhp and 645 lb/ft torque. 0-60 drops to the 5 second bracket and the in-gear performance is on par with some supercars.

Also on top of that, you can have the bugger that cost nearly 70k 2 yrs ago on your drive suopplied by VW for just 24995, oh and i forgot to mention they are 4-motion too.

now thats a real TDi monster,

oh right a good 130pd, well mine was pretty maxed out on standard turbo, and i know that a phaeton would have pissed on it. I mean the 130 tdi is a good engine, but by christ it is getting on a bit now.

If i had to go back to a diesel my personal cjoice would be the new Subaru diesel Legacy. It has a boxer type engine which has never been done on a Diesel before, and this means it has the warble associated with old imprezas.
