Goodyear eagles

Hi all.I'm just curious to see what peoples opinions are of the goodyear eagle gs d3's is.I've had the 2 fronts replaced in the last 6 months and have only done aprox 5k tops.Already they're close to the wear mark and i'm far from impressed.True they're good all round tyres, but surely you can't expect to keep paying out £200 every 5k????

Im looking to buy cheap now as I need all 4 replaced, has anyone got any ideas for a good all round tyre?

Thanks

I had 2 put on the front and they only lasted about 8k, so I've opted for Continental sport contact 3 this time, according to mytyres.co.uk they are a lot better than goodyears so we will see ( I only had them fitted earlier)

I personally much prefer Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. Think they're a better tyre and I'm running them atm

Woa I just looked those michelins up on mytyres....£102.40each ouch! continentals arent much better either at £96 each!
This is really annoying as now I need 4,but the idea when I had the front 2 replaced was that I could do it in 2 parts.....i'm thinking budget now,I mean they have to last longer than 5k right?????

I'm having 4 gsd3s fitted tomorrow for £440 all in, which isn't bad.
I hope they last longer than 5k though! My current tyres (Dunlop SP Sport Maxx) have done about 14k on my LCR.

i had to take 4 sava intensa tyres due to cost at the time £200 all in.
to be honest they aint as bad as i thought they would be, yeah they havent the outright grip but they slide quite progressively so you can have fun and control it,
done 14k in them and the fronts still have 4mm left on them rears 5.5mm.
also read that hancook aint bad all round for the price

You need to look at your driving style, because you must be driving like a total twat to get through them that quickly.

Are you wearing them evenly right across, or ripping the shoulders off them?

6k regularly from a set of GSD3's. I got to the point where I would'nt even rotate because of the rapid wear rate.

I guess I drive like a twat or it's the roundabouts.
I do very little motorway driving and a lot of 30 - 60 mph trips.

Best tyre I have used to be fair.

I must say that the F1,s are far superior to the Rosso,s that came with my LCR. The rears have done 14k and still have 4mm on them. The fronts have done 10k and have 4mm on them. Grip, wet and dry is very good.

I am running Apr stage 2 and use the car to its potential on a regular basis so i really can,t fault these tyres. I did spend money on full laser tracking and wheel realignment when i went onto F1,s and i think this is a must as the big wheels are "sensitive" to kerbs and speed bumps.

I got all 4 new for £300 ;) nice man on ebay and then my dealer fitted them for £30. Even if I don't get them cheap again they've impressed me enough for the outlay of £100+ a corner. I'm test driving an R32 MKIV tomorrow and if that joins me it'll have PS2's

Unfortunately I havent been a twat driving,at least if I had, there would be a reason for it.This car has cost me,i'm not in the kind of mood to abuse it.

What I dont understand is that there seems to be quite a lot of tread left on the tyre, but the wear mark is nearly flat with the rest of the rubber????
I appreciate all your posts tho, maybe I just had a bad batch?????

Are they worn evenly across the tyre?

I've had my GSd3's on now for over 15,000 miles and still plenty of life left, but then I don't drive at all hard.

Mine also wore unevenly, down the middle to be exact, even though they we're only on 31psi.

The edges were fine but the middle was down to the block!!

Not sure what happened there?? any ideas anyone?

They don't seem to be wearing that evenly, but the preasures are ok,and the tracking had been adjusted when they were fitted

Over infalted, it must be. 31 sounds fine, but if both shoulders are fine and its just the centres, they are ballooning in the middle. Very strange at that pressure though.

Just a thought, are you checking pressures when the tyres are stone cold? Also, try a different gauge in case its just on that is not properly calibrated.

And Lorne, sorry that I was abrupt. I wasn't calling you a twat, just suggesting you are driving the arse off it! I guess if you have ruled out pressures/geometery/driving style, try a different brand and see how they last. I still think something is amis to kill them in 5k if you are not hammering them - I used to use them on my M3, and would still get 8-10k out of rears (without traction control, and driving it reasonably hard but with respect if you know what I mean).
