glow plug symbol

hi everyone,
have a prob with my seat alhambra tdi s, 1.9td, 2001
lately when we go to start car the glow plugs symbol doesnt light up and the engine just turns over and doesnt start, so we keep turning key on and off then they light up and the car starts straight away.
the other prob is, its happened twice, the latest one was we pulled up to a roundabout pulled away got about 10 yards and the car just stopped tried starting it and the glow plug symbol didnt come on, so we pushed it off the roundabout turned the key a few times and it started.
i have been told many things that it could be,
1. loose connection somewhere
2.cam shaft sensor
3.diesel from the super market
is there anyone out there that could throw some light on this subject or anyone that has had this prob before and had it resolved
thanks
kev

Hi Kev

Sorry to hear you are having issues with your Seat, given the nature of the fault ( safety, engine stopping ) it sounds like you need to have a full diagnostic session run on he car.
Where are you based ?

hi mark,
thanks for your reply, im based in luton, i had diagnostics done on it yesterday at a nationwide garage which was inconclusive but they said the starting prob COULD be down to the crankshaft sensor, which wasnt much help really.
we are supposed to be going away at xmas with the caravan but with the car playing up im in 2 minds whether to go.
we rang the local seat garage up and they wasnt really helpful all they said was bring it down and as im in the motor trade i know they can be very expensive labour rates.
cheers again
