Glow plug light flashing

I wouldn't have thought so, I presume the switch is on the brake pedal - so it's very unlikely they'll have been near it when doing discs & pads.

Coming to work this morning in the snow, and it has happened again, gonna have to ring seat up i think. Also whilst coming to work, the TC light has come on and stayed on, tried to turn it off but it wasnt doing anything. IIRC doesnt this happen when you have something wrong with the brakes? as i have No TC and No ESP now, and in the snow i really do need them getting to and from work. I remember redcupratdi having this problem with the TC light but cant remember what they did to solve it. Anyone know?

I have that same problem too. Only that glowing won't work at all, light starts flashing when i turn power on. No matter how long i wait, it keep flashing and car won't start... i think because of no glow...

Just had the same flashing glowplug light thing happen to my 04 Ibiza TDI 130. I've had a suspicion for a while that my brake light switch is a bit ropey, so I'll wheel it down the dealers and see what they reckon. I've got about 6 weeks' warranty left so they'd better find it!

Had the flashing glowplug light come on yesterday. So got it vagcom'd and saw:
16955 - Brake Switch (F): Implausible Signal
P0571 - 35-00 - -

00526 - Brake Light Switch-F
36-00 - Open Circuit

So i checked the brake lights, both of the main one's were out. One the bulb had blown and the other hadn't and even with a new bulb wouldn't work.
I cleared the codes and the first one reappeared.

What am I looking for exactly? Is the switch under the pedal? And is it easy to replace?

Need to test the wiring on the other brake light, wonder if it's a dry track or something silly? Anyone else had something similar?

I'd place my money on the brake pedal switch,,, normally, wire insulation is quite good on modern cars,,, and the brake switch is a known faulty component on these cars,,, costs a few quids and ain't difficult if you're just a bit handy with tools,,, it's just behind the brake pedal so it's obvious to recognize you can't go wrong. You may need to remove some plastic covers to get there tho,,, a few screws, nothing serious.

I replaced the brake switch yesterday and the brake lights were permanently on, even without the keys in the ignition. The same fault code is being displayed Any ideas?

don't know,,, have you checked you've connected it properly and not the other way round? [altho normally these connectors are shaped to be connected only in one way,,,]

Only goes in one way... i can see this getting expensive

Did (or do) the brake lights go out when you disconnect the switch? If they do, then you've either got a faulty switch or you messed up the install. The switch has an adjustable plunger on it which needs to be set to the correct height on every install, not just plug and play.

If i plug the lead into the switch the brake lights and the rear lights go on, even with the ignition off (get the lights on buzzer sounding too) i can only assume a dodgy switch? That's without putting the switch in place by the way so i was able to depress the switch with my finger. Will get another tomorrow to test that

Hey, the rear lights shouldn't go on! Have you got a bulb in the wrong way round which is shorting to the tail lights somehow?

I know they're not supposed to go on. I don't believe any bulbs are in the wrong way but I'll remove them all in the morning to make sure

Took the switch back today and exchanged it for another which worked first time

Just dropped my car off at the local garage cause of this problem, hopefully the break switch will fix it as seat said its a possibility that this could be the problem.

No joy Guys, got the car back in the same state, garage confirmed fault code was the break switch but still no joy with the break lights coming on, car is now off the road until next week.

This should be an easy fix just buy a new switch from seat or gsf.

Note if it's anything like in my Arosa the switch will not work until it is locked back into
It's holder, as you turn the switch to lock it back in position it activates the switch,
That can often catch you out if you are trying to test the switch before fitting it back into place!

I didnt change it myself, the garage did it, they checked the system with vag-com after the change doesnt show any faults so im guessing the fault is else where, note i have checked the fuse.
