My glowplug light is flashing!! I've just been out for a drive and it was flashing for about 15mins then went off! i'm pretty sure this has nothing to do with pre heating as all of these lights have double meaning:blink:

Is this something obvious or coluld it mean multiple things?

Thanks for your Help:)

was going to say glow plugs on 20vt i know your not meant to start the engine till the light goes out so looks like its not warming the cylinders up enough so light is staying on. or there is a problem somwhere electrically

Hmm had this on my 1.4 PD Arosa but only flashed when it wouldn't start! Problem was the Glow plug relay in the end but this meant it wouldn't start on very cold mornings. Maybe its related!?

It has another meaning when it flashes though. If it stayed on you'd be spot on there mr jones. :)

Jordan not seen u in aggggggggges matey!

Yeah to echo what ppl have said, its usually an electrical fault to do with the Cruise/Traction conrol and Braking system. Mine came on when the 2 filaments fused in a stop and tail bulb and know that brake switches can cause it too.

Theres sometimes an error logged in our ABS controller.

You goin to any shows this year than, like spring festival again!?

i had the same on mine.
glow pug light flashing on, stopping on for some time then going off, & then re- appearing.
i got stopped yesterday, bye police, glow plug light was flashing, but my brake lights where on all the time, & he said it might cause a accident, can i get them checked.
car went into seat today & the brake light switch is faulty, so had it done under warrenty.

ah well, looks like his dad will have to pay for it then, as its a 53 or 03 plate iirc, and has no warranty left

The flashing glowplug light is, quite commonly, an indicator of a brake light or brake switch problem. Before doing a scan, just check the switch for normal operation. And if it needs to be replaced, the part is very cheap. It could even be covered by a recall or extended warranty.

prob the brake light switch
it is a double switch that turns on the brake lights and also sends a signal to the ecu to tell it that the pedal has been pressed

lots of things need to happen in order to keep the emissions under control and keep the engine revs correct during heavy braking

just change it, it's about 8 quid

Nope, think it will be a trip to the dealers for me then as its still under warranty. Would this likely to happen after having brakes chaged? as i had new discs and pads all round on saturday.
