So, reading a thread on here about a misfire at 5500rpm got me wondering.

How hard do you push your car?
Mine has only seen the north side of 4500rpm a hand full of times since ive had it and usually change gear at about 2.5 to 3k.

I'll be honest, im a little precious about my car. First off, i dont want to kill it. And secondly, if i do i cant afford and dont have the facilities to fix it.

Are these 18Ts happy to hit 5k+ on the odd occasion?

I should imagine at 5500rpm in 6th, youd be hitting about 150mph lol.

I’ve done 6k in 6th at 155mph indicated on the dial. I have never reved past 6k in any gear as I’m too scared the balance shaft will lock up and reck the engine. Mk2 Leon cupra life lol I will be fitting a delete kit at some point coz the balance shaft is a time bomb waiting to go off in my head every time I drive hard.

Yea I have faith I’ve done all the work on it myself so I know it’s sound. Mines a mk2 Leon cupra 2.0t fsi. Just stage1 engine wise but my Ibiza cupra 6L is 1.8t and likes to be thrashed that’s stage2+ revo had it 6/7 years at that spec and going strong and loves the abuse.

Ive revved mine pretty close to red but its not my style, and i know these engines do not like living in the high revs.

I do however do a couple of moving pulls when i drive and frequently open the engine up. Now i have a dyno printout i can see my powerband so i never take it beyond 5k as thats where it drops off.

Diesel's dont need to rev high.
My cupra d had enough torque to sort that out. Only ever went to about 3.5k

Its getting its 3inch downpipe on Saturday funnily enough. Then its ready.

Gotta book it im with badger5 but wont be untill later in the year.

Had to spend my financial safety net last week so need to try and claw that back before i put any more money into the car.

No rush mate you’ll get there in the end. We all do. I’m hoping to have mine stage2+ this year fingers crossed.

Its quick enough as it is.
Ive never owned a car that reacts so well to bolt on mods. The remap is just to tie it all up when its done.
I'll stop then.

I say stop, I'll probably move on to the bodywork.

My AUQ Quite happily and regularly sits at like 6k and I've never had any issues with it, tho mine is currently "stock" apart from a rammair and heat shield and a 007p

Seriously?

I drive up to 6,000rpm frequently. No problems so far (apart from Ferrari-like fuel consumptions LOL)

Just make sure your engine or better said your oil is properly warmed up.

Driving through the full rev range is marvelous in these cars, specially 2nd-3rd-4th gear. I rarely use the 5th and 6th gears LOL.

I understand you.

Stock AUQ is soooo lazy under 3,000rpm, I need to remap it man. My plan is to do a stage 1 next September and then go stage 2 at December.

Scary to do it all in once so I split the mods in two stages.

My Honda regularly sees slightly north of 9k going up through the gears, not in 6th though, yet.
