Hello all, its my first post on seat cupra.net!!!! got my first seat ibiza on thursday(06 tdi sport).
after having mk2 golfs before its a nice change! 55mpg, quiet, low insurance!:D
my question is regarding the toss head unit in my ibiza. do i need and adaptor plates to fit a new head unit in? it looks like it will slot straight in but i am not sure. do i need anything else to plug it in to the standard speakers?
many thnaks

srry to hijack the thread mate, just wondering do you, or anyone else for that matter struggle really badly to get a tidy reception on the standard head unit? i have the standard unit with the standard ariel and it's awful . . ?

also in answer to your question . . there should be no need for a fascia, should be a direct replacement

No you just need a standard replacement with an ISO connector on the back for the cables. However, depending on what you get you may need an aerial booster as the OE head unit has it built in.

Hi there
I had to get a cage for my Sony head unit for it to fit and an Ariel booster.
However the head unit in mine is fantastic... I had a Sony Headunit that I've not used in the cupra because the Cupra has MP3 computability, Steering wheel controls and aux.

The radio reception might be shite... but then I cant remember the last time I listened to anything good on the radio.

I cant understand the sudden hatred for the head units in these cars! Theres threads everywhere.
Unless your doing all out on front back comps and subs then stick with the standard. Its really not that bad!

I don't get it either. Unless you want to sit in a retail park carpark and make some noise. I really like the head unit in mine, good sound quality from it. The one in my dad's 1.4 Stylance is the same. I did replace the one in my previous MK4 as it didn't have the best sound quality, but can't complain about the current one.

i am not complaining about the sound quality, far from it! the speakers are great for a standard system. its just that i like to listen to the footie on 5live sometimes when driving. also me and the missus have very different musical tastes and sticking radio 1 on is so so so much better than listening to her crap! so the radio is a must for me :)
where can i get a signal booster lads??? also is it easy to fit one??
many thanks

its not the sound quality thats the issue mate . . the problem for me is not having the option to listen to the radio, every now and then i cant decide what cd to listen to, so the radio would really be handy! and it's sh**e at the moment!!!

u can pick up a signal booster from any auto electrial place eg halfords, motor world. but if u have the standard hu you shouldt need it as it has one built in, what aerial is fitted as that will also help or not help the reception :)

thats shocking lol, the only other thing i can think of if its not exactly pushed together properly behind the hu? or if its getting old the base isent as good as it can be, and yes the base does have an effect on the signal (dont ask me why tho)
